About
I like solving problems, creating, and sharing what I have learned along the way. This page is the long version of that sentence.
I'm William E. Steele, based in the Rio Grande Valley. Most weeks I'm working somewhere between McAllen, Weslaco, Brownsville, or SPI, where my team and I run harva (formerly Supply Pay) — a cross-border trade finance and B2B SaaS company serving buyers and sellers in the international perishable goods trade. When I am not doing that, I am helping other builders through my small consulting practice LeverageAI. My work sits where software, capital, attention, and AI collide, which turns out to be a fascinating intersection at this moment in time.
What I do
My time splits a few ways, between professional projects and family. One area to highlight is that LeverageAI handles short, scoped consulting engagements — usually scoped to a specific problem an operator is stuck on. The rest goes to writing and teaching, mostly through X and a small hands-on workshop I run several times a quarter in partnership with various municipalities across the RGV.
The through-line is the same across all three: take a non-obvious technical shift — right now, AI — and figure out what it actually does inside the shape of a real business. Not the keynote version. The version where someone has to decide on Tuesday whether to hire a person or ship a prototype.
The useful questions are almost always the ones that sound too practical to be interesting. They're the interesting ones.
Credentials
I have had the pleasure to pitch and learn from some of the world's best entrepreneurs, like Steve Forbes, Richard Branson, Brett Hurt, and John Mackey; harva has raised roughly $113M across debt and equity to date; I have given workshops and talks at events like RGV Startup Week and several others. These are a few of the fun things I have experienced in my journey as a builder that helps lend some credibility to the initiatives here.
Books
Two so far, both published in 2022. A non-fiction book on AI and a sci-fi novel, both by William E. Steele.
How Our World Was Changed Forever By Artificial Intelligence
My first non-fiction book — written on the other side of the GPT moment, about what it actually means for the world that these systems exist. Audiobook followed a few weeks later. Grab a copy.
The Spark
My first novel, and the opening of a science-fiction universe I'm calling Beyond The Light. Grab a copy.
